On the 12th and 13th of November, as part of the Science Insights team (JRC-SI) in the Centre for Advanced Studies at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (Brussels), I organised and co-chaired a two-half day workshop on Rapid Science for Policy (RS4P).
The workshop involved a dozen of leading experts in RS4P, spanning across four continents: Europe, Australia, North America and South America.
The workshop sparked rich and diverse discussions from which all participants and the JRC-SI team in particular gained valuable insights on RS4P’s fast-evolving field.
Required skills and expertise, latest AI tools, diverse stakeholders’ networks, as well as the importance of building trusting connections, setting clear objectives and scopes, and identifying the kind of RS4P’s impact we want for EU’s policymakers and decision makers, were all aspects explored during the workshop.
Ideally, the event will be followed by a vademecum early next year.
